Your notes do a pretty good job of explaining the development of the theory and the
many implications the theory has for things like mountain-building, volcanoes, earthquakes...
it also, of course, lends tremendous insight into your understanding of the Rock Cycle itself!

   As we discussed in class, technology drives scientific discovery, and warfare often
drives technology!  Those realities all came together in the life of Harry Hess, a Geology
professor who soon found himself in command of a warship during WW II.
